Certified Financial Fiduciary Robert Ryerson
Robert M. Ryerson is a Freehold, New Jersey-based financial services professional and Certified Financial Fiduciary (CFF) who works with clients at New Century Planning Associates, Inc. Diversely experienced in estate administration, he assists clients with all aspects of estate, legacy, and retirement planning. In recent years, Robert Ryerson has developed a particular interest in helping retirees understand and manage long-term healthcare costs. This led him to co-author What You Don’t Know About Retirement Will Hurt You, a 2013 book that highlighted the need to focus on healthcare during retirement.
Looking to better meet the needs of his clients, Robert Ryerson later earned the Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC) designation. In July 2022, he became a Retirement Income Certified Professional, a prestigious certification that has allowed him to develop a deeper level of expertise in retirement planning.
Complementing his work as an independent financial planner, Mr. Ryerson enjoys teaching others about finance. He frequently speaks on topics related to retirement planning and has appeared as the keynote speaker at industry events. Mr. Ryerson has also helped Certified Public Accountants expand their professional knowledge by hosting online continuing education courses.
In addition, Mr. Ryerson has spent the last several years developing a professional interest in identity theft. In 2014, he became a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (CITRMS). Mr. Ryerson has since focused on helping his clients mitigate the risk of identity theft by incorporating protection strategies into their financial plans. He also enjoys sharing his knowledge with the public, a passion that motivated him to author the 2016 book What’s the Deal with Identity Theft and teach classes at community colleges in the Freehold area.
Mr. Ryerson launched his career in 1984, when he began training as a stockbroker and passed his Series 7 exam. He underwent further training at Shearson Lehman American Express before joining the firm as a stockbroker. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Rutgers University.
